Amazing! Beautiful picture for a beautiful rocket! I believe I read somewhere that it was the largest and most powerful craft ever to be completely computer automated! And that the Russian aerospace engineers stole rations for the Mir space station because they hadn't been paid in 6 months. Haha don't know about the legitimacy of those... But a very nice painting!

Thank you!:)
I did not know this historical fact about the aerospace engineers and Mir space station.Try to look for it in Russian historiography.
But I would not be surprised, while my country was very difficult. And could happen anywhere.

Buran, the Russian Shuttle- too bad it never flew beyond the first uncrewed test flight.  And now the American Space Shuttle (officially the Space Transportation System, STS for short) fleet is grounded for good after their many flights into orbit, with no successor to the title of reusable shuttle.  Venture Star and DC-X Delta Clipper were all cancelled well before they could reach orbit.  I wonder how long it will be before another reusable spaceship rockets into orbit and back...

Of course, Space Shuttle required an external fuel tank and strap-on SRBs to reach orbit, and engine-less Buran rocketed into orbit an an Energia booster, so "partially" reusable was the word to describe them!  Still an exciting step in the direction of the true spaceship, though.  I like the sense of movement and the cloud colors in this painting... one gets the feeling of the rush of a rocket ascent.  Up we go!! :XD:

Buran and Space Shuttle two excellent programs. Venture Star and DC-X Delta Clipper, very interesting projects.
Today Russia
and the United States space achievements are beginning to catch up with other countries. China of course repeats the Soviet space program, but must pay tribute to doing it at a faster pace.In our century will be a new space race. I'm sure.
I would write more, but my English is not good.
Thank you. :)
And I like to read your comments.

It's a shame it had only one flight. Now it's destroyed.

Yeah- although it really only visually resembled the shuttle- it had no engines, so only the plane part of the Buran system was reusable.  The main part of the system was the powerful, expendable Energia rocket.  Shuttle only threw away the external tank (ET), as the reusable orbiter carried the liquid rocket engines and the SRBs parachuted to the ground to be recovered and refurbished for another flight.  It was clunky and not completely reusable, but still a valiant stride in the direction of the truly reusable ship- while Buran acted more like a plane lofted on a big expendable booster.  Buran still looked cool, though! :)
